Petrov S. Yu., Orlov S. E. — Determination of the amount of energy released at the rail ends during flash-butt welding based on solving the inverse heat conduction problem

As a result of the conducted numerical studies of the kinematics of temperature fields during rail welding, two finite element problems were solved to determine the energy used for the formation of a welded joint at the initial stage of end flashing: 1) the direct heat conduction problem for uniform heating of the rail end; 2) the inverse heat conduction problem with a bevel at the rail end. The regularities of energy release during uniform and non-uniform (presence of a bevel) heating of the rail end are established.

The physical and chemical processes accompanying the formation of a high-temperature brazed joint based on copper-silver solder, when the surfaces to be brazed are multiphase structures (heat-resistant steel, precipitation-hardening alloy, etc.), are investigated. The analysis of the processes occurring during the interaction of the copper-silver melt and the brazed surface and leading to joint failure is carried out.

On a welded joint obtained by electron beam welding, the method for determining residual stresses by instrumental indentation, regulated by GOST R 57172-2016, is tested. Practical recommendations are given for the application of the considered method for welded joints with control of residual stresses at various points of the weld cross-section at different distances from the surface.

Kryuchina O. A., Shiganov I. N., Sadovnikov I. E. — Features of the energy characteristics of the light technological medium during laser and laser-arc processing of metals with fiber lasers

The article presents the features of the energy characteristics of the light medium of laser and hybrid laser-arc technological welding. It is shown that during laser processing of various metallic materials, different spectra of the light medium arise — ultraviolet, infrared, and visible radiation. The measurement results showed that the parameters of ultraviolet and infrared radiation during laser welding of aluminum alloys are higher than during welding of steel specimens. In hybrid laser-arc welding, high values of ultraviolet and infrared radiation prevail, while laser irradiance is practically absent. The means of protection against laser and accompanying radiation that must be provided for in the processes under consideration are determined.

The features of joint formation between the needle and the plate of a needle bushing during resistance spot welding are investigated. A technological scheme for making the joint of the needle with the needle bushing plate is proposed, which ensures the formation of a cast zone between the needle and the plate metal.

The results of comparative tests of single-phase welding current power sources — inverters and a transformer from different manufacturers — are presented, as a result of which differences in welding properties and energy consumption characteristics are established. The possibility and feasibility of increasing the power factor of inverter power sources are shown.
