In recent years, the previously established system of organizing subscriptions to domestic periodicals, in particular to the journals of the publishing house "Tekhnologiya Mashinostroeniya," has been significantly disrupted.
Due to the flourishing of the so-called "free market" laws, in addition to the companies traditionally providing subscription and distribution services for periodicals in the Russian Federation (the agencies Rospechat, Pressa Rossii, and Russian Post), a large number of so-called alternative companies have emerged, offering their subscription services mainly through the Internet.
Having concluded an agreement with a subscriber, these alternative companies buy up journals from traditional subscription agencies and resell the subscription, usually at inflated prices. For example, one company offers subscribers an annual subscription to the journal "Svarochnoe Proizvodstvo" for 11,720 rubles, compared to the catalog price of 7,200 rubles.
Moreover, there is information that some companies located in the regions of Siberia and the Far East purchase a standard issue of the journal and replicate it in an artisanal manner for sale (which, incidentally, is a criminal offense). With the onset of the so-called "financial crisis," most of these companies, having received funds from subscribers, miss delivery deadlines for the publications, and often simply disappear.
