Kovalchuk V. G., Golev E. V., Khodakova E. A., Mazalov I. S., Odintsov N. S. — Selection of technological variants of argon-arc and electron-beam welding of a high-temperature nickel alloy in a thermally strengthened state

The paper clarifies the influence of TIG and EB welding variants and highly temperature-resistant nickel superalloy VG159 being in a heat-hardenable condition without post-heat treatment on mechanical properties and structure of welded joints. The research trackles the problem of short-and long-term durability at a temperature of 850 and 870 °С and covers the issue of resilience. The filler materials for argon-arc welding and relevant modes for electron-beam welding are selected. They provide a high complex of mechanical properties and an appropriate structure of welded joints.

Peshkov V. V., Bulkov A. B., Kushchev S. B. — The development features of the diffusion welding process of titanium thin-walled layered structures with a T-joint

The influence of the ratio of the thicknesses in the T joint of the filler elements and the shells on the development of the diffusion welding process is considered in the article.
The results of x-ray spectral microanalysis, X-ray diffractometry, and Auger spectroscopy of the fracture surfaces of a welded joint reveal a sufficiently high oxygen content in the surface layers and suggest that the suboxide films present in the contact of welded preforms are a significant barrier to the implementation of the welding process.
It is established that the formation of a welded joint occurs during deformation of the contact surfaces necessary for the destruction of suboxides and the activation of welded surfaces.

Busygin S. L., Tokmin A. M., Mozhaev A. V., Maslov R. S. — Features of manufacturing electrodes for spot-welding of reinforced ferroconcrete items

The complexity of the methods for manufacturing contact welding electrodes with a given set of physical and mechanical properties, as well as the complexity of controlling the macro- and microstructure, strength and performance characteristics, and the change in the structural-energy state of the alloy are estimated. A method for introducing alloying elements into the prepared melt using a Cu-Cr tablet is described. The technology of melting and subsequent stamping of electrodes is trained in practice. The modes of subsequent thermal operations after stamping the contact welding electrodes for achievement the highest level of physical and mechanical properties (hardness and electrical conductivity) are determined. The influence of nanostructured chromium particles on the hardness, electrical conductivity and resistance of contact welding electrodes is estimated. Dependences of the electrode wear degree on the number of welded points for various materials used in the manufacture of contact welding electrodes are constructed.

Mashrabov N., Erofeev V. V., Korotkov V. A. — Plasma hardening of elements for soil cultivating instruments

The properties of 65G steel used in the manufacture of elements of soil-cultivating machines, strengthened by plasma quenching through the use of the UDGZ-200 serial installation, without water cooling, are studied. It is established that quenching leaves on the surface bands the heat tints. Surface roughness varies from Ra 0.3 to Ra 2.6 as a result of hardening. When quenching a plate 30 mm thick, the cooling rates in the region of pearlite decomposition of austenite (750...500 °C) are in the range of 50—100 °C/s, which allows the supercooled austenite to be maintained until the martensitic transformation begins (270 °C). In this case quenching condition is provided. At temperatures below the martensitic transformation, the cooling rates slow down, which a factor is contributing to the prevention of cracking during quenching. As a result of reducing the arc movement speed from 33 to 24 and up to 14 m/h, occurs an increase in the hardening depth with the boundary of HV500 450 from 0.25 up to 0,35 and 0,50 mm and an increase in the width of the hardened strip from 9 to 11 and to 13 mm, respectively. Reducing the thickness of the plate from 30 to 10 mm is accompanied by an increase in the depth of hardening to 1.9 mm. The wear resistance of normalized 65G steel as a result of plasma quenching by steel indenter friction (ShX-15) is increased by 4 times. When rubbing with corundum indenter, the wear resistance of the hardened steel is 15.3 times higher than in the case of friction with a steel indenter. This makes plasma hardening promising for strengthening elements of soil-cultivating machines, which wear conditions are closer to tests by a corundum indenter.
