CONSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS, PHYSICAL METALLURGY

Barabanova О. А., Nabatchikov S. V., Sapozhnikov S. Z. — For creating layered composite materials based on monocrystalline silicon for gradient heat measurement based by diffusion welding method

A distinctive feature of laminated composite materials (LCM) is that they are always functional materials — materials with a special set of properties, which are created to solve a specific problem. The creation of layered structures is associated with the choice of: the technological process of its manufacture; pairs of materials, geometric characteristics of layers; layer layouts, which together provide the desired set of properties. The development of approaches to creating LCM based on monocrystalline silicon by diffusion welding for gradient heat metering are discussed in this article.

SPECIAL TECHNOLOGY

Berdnik O. B., Tsareva I. N., Tarasenko Yu. P. — The geometric dimensions restoration of large-sized parts for gas turbine engines

The article presents the results of research on working out the deposition process for restoring the pen part geometric dimensions of the large-sized operational turbines blades made from heat-resistant nickel alloy EI893. Complex in-tense working conditions of the blades lead to a violation of the edges integrity and the pen upper part. To restore the geometric dimensions of the blades, the method of argon-arc deposition is proposed.
From the tested filler materials (grades EP868 and EP648), based on the results of microstructural studies, the choice is made in favor of the more heat-resistant wire EP648. Based on the results of X-ray structural and mechanical studies, it is established that after deposition it is necessary to carry out thermal tempering, allows the regeneration of the microstructure and the optimal complex of mechanical characteristics. Argon-arc deposition is recommended for use as part of repair and restoration technologies for large-sized parts of gas turbine engines in order to extend their service life.
Key words: deposition when restoring the geometric dimensions of turbine blades, argon-arc deposition, microstructural studies, thermal tempering, a set of mechanical characteristics

Yangirov I. F., Ismagilov F. R., Maksudov D. V., Safiullin R. A. — Spring linear acceleration converter

The original design of the LASC, which has an increased quality of the conversion characteristics, enhanced functionality and performance, improved metrological characteristics, is considered. The analytical relations for the analysis and design of LASC are given. The relations for engineering calculations with the possibility of optimization calculations are obtained. It is proved that the implementation of the above design to expand the practical application of this design in the design of high-precision sensors in the instrument.

METHODS OF CONTROL AND DIAGNOSTICS

Case J. Т., Kenderyan Shant — MW NDT an inspection method

Until recently, ASNT classified microwaves testing (MW) as a technique under electromagnetic testing (ET) (ASNT, 2004). In fact, the ET method comprised a number of techniques that have little in common, such as eddy current, microwave, magnetic flux leakage.
The microwave Testing Committee was established in 2014 and the method was included in the 2016 editions of ANSI/ASNT CP 105; ASNT Standard Topical Outlines for Qualification of Nondestructive Testing Personnel and ASNT Recommended Practice No. SNTTC-1A: Personnel Qualification and Certification in Nondestructive Testing. This is justified since there are an increasing number of MW applications and techniques, more research, and more industrial applications than ever before. Within ASNT committee work, efforts are underway to develop MV certifications for Level 1 and Level II inspectors.
The purpose of this paper is to provide a broad and introductory perspective to MW and provide the technical justification as to why MW should be its own method in support of ASNT's recognition of MW. There is not enough room in this paper to give justice to all of the formidable techniques, example applications, and noteworthy contributions since 1950s, when MW began. Moreover, there is insufficient room to even simply list the references. The goals of this paper are to introduce MW, describe materials characterization and imaging techniques with example applications, and a final discussion. Materials characterization describes transmission line, open-ended waveguide, and freespace techniques, image describes near field, lens-focused, synthetic-focused, and realtime techniques.
