Boldyrev А. М. — The chemical composition formation of the weld metal during welding over a layer of modifying granulated additive

The formation analysis of the weld metal chemical composition during welding of bridge structures made of 10ХСND steel under the flux over a layer of granular modifying additive is given. It is shown that the chemical composition of the weld metal is determined not only by the composition of the materials involved in the welding process, but also by the trajectory of their delivery to the weld pool. The greatest effect of grinding grain in the weld metal takes place when the modifier enters the bath, bypassing the arc column. On the grounds of thermodynamic analysis it is shown that at welding over a layer of granulated additive, titanium dioxide modifying particles are captured by liquid metal flows, bypassing the process of dissociation. At the same time the refractory particles of the intermetallide compound TiAl2O5, which are the nuclei of the solid phase in the crystallization zone of the weld pool, are formed as a result of interaction with aluminum oxide coming from the flux. The relationship between the particle size of TiO2 in the composition of the granular additive and the size of non-metallic inclusions in the seam is established.

Kibitkin V. V., Pleshanov V. S., Solodushkin A. I., Gnyusov S. F., Khatkov D. N. — Relationship of deformation meso- and macrostructures types with the staging of damage accumulation in welded joints of stainless steel under high-cycle fatigue

The fatigue fracture mechanism of spot-welded joints of stainless constructional steel at multi-cycle loading condition is studied using the method of digital images correlation.
Analysis of deformation meso- and macrostructures was carried out within the framework of the four-stage scheme of deformation and fracture of welded joints identified in the work. Characteristic fields of displacement vectors are presented and quantitative indicators and duration of damage accumulation stages are determined. On the basis of inverse pseudo-images, new types of deformation structures (trickle and cellular hexagonal) have been discovered.

Arkhipov V. E., Bortnikov M. V., Londarskiy A. F., Moskvitin G. V., Pugachov М. S. — Gas-dynamic processing of aluminum alloys welding joints

The article presents the research results of hardness, residual stresses and ultimate strength of aluminum alloy 1151 and the welding joint after surface treatment with a mixture of hard and ductile particles by the method of cold gas-dynamic sputtering using the DIMET-404 unit. It is shown that the hardness of a plate from an alloy decreases after sputtering from 1300 MPa to 350 MPa and hardness change is observed at a distance of up to 145 μm from the surface. The sputtering of aluminum coating on a plate of aluminum alloy at a temperature of 360 °C increases the residual compressive stress.
Treatment of the welding joint and heat-affected zone is attended by a decrease in the magnitude of residual stresses and a decrease in the area of their manifestation. Tensile tests of aluminum alloy specimens with a coating reveal a tendency to increase the ultimate strength of an aluminum alloy with a welded seam under certain parameters of sputtering an coating.

Anakhov S. V., Pykin Yu. A., Matushkin A. V. — Improving the efficiency of the gas-vortex stabilization system in plasmatrons for high-precision cutting of metals

The analysis of several constructive solutions in plasmatrons for metal cutting is done. Influence of such solutions on efficiency of plasma gas uniformity in cross-section of an air-gas path is investigated. The stabilizationsystem using two (forming and stabilizing) swirl units is offered. The effect of improvement of stabilization due to increase of uniformity degree of plasma gas flow distribution is shown. The optimum relative positioning of swirlunitsis determined.

Grigorev V. V., Muravev V. I., Bakhmatov P. V. — The study of the specific defects occurrence at electron-beam welding (EBW) of titanium alloys

The article presents an analytical assessment of specific defects in electron-beam welding of titanium alloys; the defects distribution locations in areas of the welding joint are established. It was found by analysis that the formation of specific defects (dark streaks, pore chains) and their locations are influenced by EBL modes (welding speed, amperage) and technological operations of preparing edges for welding (presence of capillary-condensed moisture). Other defects (faulty fusion and incomplete fusion) are affected by the EBL modes, the error in the adjustment of the electron beam, the insufficient heat input and the penetrating power of the beam.
