A transient mathematical model of the submerged arc welding process with the hydrostatic statement description of its basic physical phenomena has been presented for the first time. The special attention is given to the physics of the arc cavity. A comparison between the calculated and experimental data has shown their good correspondence.

The review of papers devoted to the application of interlayers in diffusion welding was presented. The classification of interlayers for the diffusion welding of heterogeneous materials was suggested. The role of interlayers ad their contribution to the formation of a junction at all stages of the welding was considered.

Shirshov V. S. — Research of parameter influence of surface preparation of metal constructions on coating cohesive strength with foundation

The research results of the surface preparation of metal constructions for the plasma spraying of coatings are shown. The practical recommendations of the choice of surface treatment parameters by thermoabrasive instrument for plasma spraying are given.

The zinc influence on the processes of aluminium wetting and spreading on the steel surface is researched. The zinc influence on the thickness of intermetallic layer which formed during liquid-phase aluminizing of steel and on the adhesive strength of layers is established.

The methods improving arc striking with the wires of minor diameter and ensuring the weld formation at the current of 10 A with minimum melting and spatter losses are considered.

Tsumarev Yu. A., Ignatova E. V. — Substantiation of choice of brazed joint construction

The research results of the comparative analysis of the carrying capacity of the brazed lap joints and brazed double-strap joints of different kinds are given. It is shown that brazed double-strap joints ensure the load-carrying capacity higher than lap joints. The constructions of brazed joints with disc straps as well as in the form of ball segments which have low material capacity are suggested.

Ogolikhin V. M., Shemelin S. D. — Method of flexible current lead making by explosion welding

The construction of a flexible current lead making it possible to reduce electric power losses considerably on external and internal electrical contacts of the current lead in high power electrical installations which can work at the temperature to 500 °C is suggested. The method of flexible current lead making is developed. This method ensures the local explosion welding on the ends of an assembled pack out of flexible metal strips with the quality joint formation of an accelerated plate with the unlimited number of flexible metal strips and the welding on the ends of each previous strip with following and accelerated plates in the areas exceeding the cross-sectional areas of strips.

A solder for the brazing of ferritic-martensitic steels is developed. The technology for obtaining the alloy of the solder based on Ni in the form of an amorphous strip is well-tested. The brazing of steels ЭП-450 ДУО, ЭП-823 is performed using this solder. The regularities of brazed seam formation are discovered in the obtained joints. The results of the brazing of prototype fuel elements made of steels ЧС-139 и ЭП-823 (ЭП-450 ДУО) are given as well as the results of the mechanical shearing test of brazed joints.

The technological welding process is considered. The calculation of the number of extract air from the point high-temperature source is performed.
