Kozyrev N. A., Usoltsev A. A., Mikhno A. R., Kibko N. V., Osetkovsky I. V. — Influence of carbon on physical and mechanical properties of metal deposited using flux-cored wire Fe-C-Si-Mn-Cr-Ni-Mo-V metal

A study of the structure and properties of samples of deposited metal with flux-cored wire of the Fe-C-Si-Mn-Cr-Ni-Mo-V system is presented. Instead of amorphous carbon, a carbon-fluorine-containing additive is introduced into the charge of flux-cored wire — dust from gas cleaning of aluminum production. The issues of the influence of increasing the concentration of a carbon-fluorine-containing additive on the weldability and the level of contamination of the deposited metal by oxide non-metallic inclusions are considered.
Studies have determined that carbon production in the deposited layer 0.31—0.62 % C when using flux-cored wire of the Fe-C-Si-Mn-Cr-Ni-Mo-V system with a diameter of 5 mm at surfacing modes I = 420—520 A, U = 28—32 V, Vw = 7.2—9 m/h allows to ensure a satisfactory quality of the surface of the deposited metal layer — without cracks, pores and cavities without using preliminary heating of the surface to be deposited. The microstructure of the deposited layers is medium-acicular and coarse-acicular martensite (points 6 and 7) with needles of 7—13 microns in size.
An increase in the content of the carbon-fluorine-containing component of the fluxcored wire charge and, accordingly, an increase in the carbon content in the deposited layer contributes to a decrease in the level of contamination of the deposited metal with non-deformable silicates and point oxides, which is determined by an increase in the level of degassing during surfacing due to the formation of gaseous reaction products of carbon oxides.
A decrease in the size of the primary austenite grain is apparently associated with the formation of sparingly soluble chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium carbides, which have an inhibitory effect on grain growth.
Regression dependences of the influence of chemical elements on the degree of wear and hardness of the deposited layer are constructed.

Kolomensky A. B., Shakhov S. V., Kolomensky B. A. — In the casting of oxide films on the cyclic durability of the HAZ of welded joints of titanium alloys

The influence of oxide films on the re-static durability of welded joints of titanium alloys of various strengths in the presence of regulated surface gas saturation is estimated.
The durability of the HAZ metal increases with the removal of the surface oxide film formed during the final annealing.

Vasiliev A. A., Gorsky A. I., Oreshkin A. A., Osinnikov A. A., Ponomarenko D. V., Shiganov I. N. — Use of nitrogen as a shielding gas for laser welding of stainless steel

In this article was shown positive experience of using nitrogen as a shielding gas for laser welding of thick austenitic stainless steels. Low activity of nitrogen was established when interacting with the molten weld pool of AISI 321 steel, which was confirmed by the study of the microstructure, chemical composition of the weld metal and the mechanical properties of welded joints obtained by single-pass and multi-pass laser welding methods.
Metallographic and radiographic inspection did not reveal the formation of defects in the form of porosity and cracks in welded joints.

Vybornov A. P., Korolev S. A., Zabolotny M. V. — Methodology for determining the clamping force in the design of assembly and welding devices

The method for determining the clamping force required in the design of assembly and welding devices is presented. The proposed technique takes into account the geometric features of the workpieces being welded and the clamping elements of the device, the thermophysical and mechanical properties of the materials used, the welding technology, heat transfer between the contacting elements, taking into account the properties of the adjacent surfaces, as well as the arising stress-strain state. To take into account the above parameters, it is advisable to use computer modeling tools.

Sviridov A. V., Gribkov M. S. — Features of electron beam welding of heat-resistant alloy EI787-VD with steel 45 as applied to the rotor shafts of a turbocompressor of mainline diesel locomotives

Technologies for electron beam welding of EI787-VD heat-resistant alloys with steel 45 have been developed. A complex of metallographic studies of welded samples has been carried out. In order to exclude the occurrence of cracks in the welded joint of steel 45 with the EI787-VD alloy, a special alloying insert based on Cr—Mn—Ni—Mo—V was made. Tests to determine the mechanical characteristics of welded joints have shown that welded joints made by EBW are equal in strength to the base metal of steel 45.
The performed non-destructive testing of welded joints showed the absence of unacceptable defects in welded joints.

Starkov I. N., Rozhkov K. A., Lyalin A. N., Olshanskaya T. V., Trushnikov D. N. — Development of manufacturing technology for bimetallic sliding guides (brass—steel)

The paper presents the development of a technology for manufacturing bimetallic sliding guides (base made of St3sp material, working part made of brass alloy LS-59-1).
Investigations on the possibility of making a bimetallic joint by means of electron beam welding and high-temperature brazing (surfacing) in an electric furnace are presented.
Based on the results of the study, the optimal technology was selected — surfacing of brass on steel in an electric furnace. The developed technology provides a high-quality connection between brass and steel, providing the required mechanical properties, and also meets the requirements for the chemical composition of the working part of the guides. Shown are the results of tests of bimetallic joints for bending, for the separation of the brass layer from the steel workpiece, for the shear of the brass strip relative to the steel; also the results of metallographic studies of the fusion zone of brass and steel and chemical analysis.

Andreeva L. P., Kopaev B. V., Tolochkov P. D. — Long-term strength of lap joints made of low-carbon steels brazed with tin

The work [2] presents the short-term static strength of overlapping joints made of lowcarbon steel brazed with tin. In addition to short-term static strength, an important characteristic of joints brazed with low-melting solders is their long-term strength, which determines the duration of operation of the latter. The literature contains examples of studying the long-term strength of lap joints brazed with low-melting solders [3—5], but they lack important information on material thicknesses, overlap values, and brazed joint thicknesses. In the proposed work, studies of long-term strength were carried out on overlapping joints made of low-carbon steel with a thickness of 1 mm, brazed with tin.
