Paton B. E., Sidoruk V. S., Maksimov S. Yu., Saraev Yu. N. — The history of the origin and development of the arc self-regulation theory at welding with a consumable electrode. Critical analysis of existing representations

Modern conceptions of the arc self-regulation phenomenon at mechanized arc welding are considered. Some erroneous interpretations of the algorithm for arc self-regulation are indicated. Technical solutions based on the arc self-regulation are considered. An extended term "self-regulation of the electrode melting process" is proposed.

Davydov Yu. S., Razikov N. M., Korobov Yu. S., Shumyakov V. I., Razikov M. N., Davydov A. Yu. — The parameters estimation of pulse-arc welding by high-chromium flux-cored wire

The analyzes of the pulse-arc welding process influence on the macro characteristics of the melting process of high-chromium powder wires type 55X18 with a diameter of 1.2 and 1.4 mm is carried out in this work. It is established that at a modified pulse combination during the drop relief period and the flux-cored wire with a diameter of 1.2 mm, the waste of metal and spattering is 1.5 times lower, and the deposition coefficient is 1.5 times and the productivity is 1.6 times higher than for welding with natural short circuits.
Oscillography of the arc current and voltage showed that in the pulsed mode, along with small-drop transfer, periodic formation of larger drops occurs. An explanation on the basis of the difference in the thermophysical properties of the core and the flux-cored wire shell, as well as the reduction in heat input during impulse welding in comparison with welding without impulse is proposed.

Ivanov S. Yu., Panchenko O. V., Ginsburg S. A., Mikhaylov V. G. — Analysis of local mechanical properties for welded joints of Al-Mg-Si alloys at friction stir welding

The microstructure and mechanical properties of joints made of alloy 6082-T6 obtained by friction stir welding (FST) are investigated. Welded joints have a pronounced heterogeneity in microstructure and mechanical properties. The asymmetry of the maximum temperature fields and microhardness in the zone of thermal influence (ZTI) is indicated.
The joint strength of the FST average 72 % of the strength of the base metal. The plasticity of welded joints is lower than the base metal by 5.3 times, because of the high deformation concentration in the minimum hardness zone. The prolonged residence of the ZTI metal in the high-temperature region leads to the dissolution process of the β" hardening particles, and, as a consequence, to a significant decrease in the hardness of the ZTI. The dependence of the alloy 6082 yield strength on hardness, which makes it possible to estimate the level of local mechanical properties in a welded joint is received.

Korotkov V. A. — Investigation of chromium depositing wire

The paper found that the protective gas welding deposit of chromium (16 %) wire, modified manganese and silicon, is characterized by calm arcing, is not inclined to the pores formation, provides the hardness of the deposited layer at a level HV543 (HRC 50), which increases at the turning as a result of hardening up HV800 (HRC 61), has a resistance to temperature softening up to 600 °C.

Starostin N. P., Ammosova О. А. — Modeling the cooling process at butt welding of polyethylene pipes in low temperature conditions

A method of the polyethylene pipes welding at low temperatures without preliminary heating and with cooling of the the welded joint in the heat insulating chamber is considered.
According to the results of the process mathematical modeling the determining methodology of the heat insulating chamber demensions and the overhang length of the heated pipe region to ensure the required quality of the welded joint is proposed.

Volkov S. S., Nerovhiy V. M., Remizov A. L. — Methods for increasing the productivity of polymer films ultrasonic welding

Determined that with increasing length of contact butt welding of the waveguide linearly increases the speed and performance of seam welding. The use of low-power piezoelectric transducers for ultrasonic welding of polymer films with bilateral extraction of energy from the transducer improves the performance and efficiency of the welding process.
